Inventory not adjusting when order is paid
When we create an order on the backend, or convert a preorder, the inventory does not change when the order is paid in full. Webstore and Ebay orders both lower inventory. We need this to work, and it has been several months since we discovered and reported the issue initially.

Shame says it didn't work with 15604.
This order was created by Shane, and not a pre-order. He used "account credit" to pay it off, although the customer did not actually have account credit (shane has been misusing that and will use the "cash" button from now on.) In any case the order went to "This order has been paid in full." but the inventory did not go down.

I can verify that it worked with a test order I just created, and marking the order "Paid" manually. I will make sure Shane doesn't actually use the "account credit" button unless the customer truly has account credit.

Okay, two instances when it did not work: 15651 and 15769. Neither of these orders brought down the inventory. It should be at 1 and instead it remains at 3.

Also, note that one of those was paid through CC on the website, and the other was marked as a cash payment by Shane.

Thanks for all the updates and information. I just replicated 15769 in my test environment and it did bring down the inventory correctly. Are you seeing these inventory issues only in certain scenarios or does it seem to be happening on every order?

I'll have Shane keep an eye out today.
When I created a test order on my own and then marked it paid inventory came down as it should. But then Shane observed the errors on those two.

I can confirm that an open invoice was just paid and the issue remains. order 15710 Shane marked this as paid in the backend and the inventory did not adjust.

Strangely, I just had it work fine with 16629. It seems to work correctly on anything I create in the backend, at least recent orders. Seems to be older ones that this isn't working on. I'll try to get Shane to hold off on marking the next old order as paid so you can look at it before we mark it, and see if it doesn't adjust.

Have you noticed anything similar with the older orders this is happening to? Have you seen it in a new order at all?

I've reminded Shane to look into this again. In my testing with new orders it does work. It's the old ones that it is a problem with. Possibly converted pre-orders?

Does it seem to be older orders before a certain date? Are they all preodrers or some older unpaid orders?

I'm having Shane keep a close eye the next time some older orders are processed. My feeling is this is happening with pre-orders that got converted. I can test that later when I get some time today...

Okay, we just had it happen with an order Shane created today. 17524. Item was in stock with an inventory of 1 and the inventory did not reduce. It's inventory setting was "out of stock." Shane did manually mark the inventory to 0, in order to keep us from over selling this.

Another one where inventory didn't work, 18625. New order created in the backend by Shane. Customer paid, inventory did not go down.

Yes, shane created this, then emailed the invoice and the customer paid it through paypal. Shane later changed the inventory himself.
Orders placed through the front end and ebay are moving inventory as they should.
And, strangely, the couple of times I have tested this myself the inventory has moved.

here is another one that has not adjusted. Product 1292 from order 19435. Shane created the order and customer paid by paypal.

This still is not fixed and is causing headache. Any progress?
Here is the latest order with the issue 19919
Shane sent the guy the invoice, he paid, inventory did not go down. He manually marked the inventory down in this case so we do not oversell this item (we only have one left.)

Hello! I wanted to let you know that we have made some progress in correcting this issue for you. Unfortunately, because the payment system is so critical for all of our users, we will not be able to release the fix until it has been fully tested.
You should expect this issue to be addressed in the next version release, which you can read about here and is expected to come out Sept. 29, 2016.
