Ad campaign advertisement ref link not working

Hi!
Created an advertisement for a ref link for an email. When we click the "test link" button in the advertisement it is not working. Attached is a screenshot of the error message we get.....

discovered if we paste the link into a browser it works however when we click "test url" in Ad Campaigns it does not
